When their beloved dog Odie passed away, Brian and Kerrie Harrington of New Bedford chose to honor the memory of their pet in a charitable fashion. This Saturday, Sept. 10th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Harringtons will be hosting the first annual “OdiePalooza” at the Stoico/FIRSTFED YMCA on Sharps Lot Road in Swansea.

According to South Coast Today.com, the event will benefit their charity, Odie’s Place, which finances medical care for seriously ill dogs. Since its inception, Odie’s Place has covered the cost of treatment - everything from surgery to MRI scans – for six dogs in total. Admission to the fundraiser itself is free, though some of the games and activities planned – such as “Knock-A-Ball” and pony rides – will cost money. Other animal care organizations are expected to be present at the event.
