‘Suspicious Item’ Explodes in New Bedford Neighborhood

NEW BEDFORD — An investigation is underway after an apparent explosion in a neighborhood in New Bedford's North End on Sunday night.

New Bedford Police received a report at about 11 p.m. on Sunday that a "suspicious item" appeared to have exploded in the area of 201 Belleville Road.

Police detectives and fire department personnel are investigating the incident.
