Suspects Held Without Bail In New Bedford’s Third Murder of 2017

NEW BEDFORD - The two suspects accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old New Bedford man Monday afternoon have been arraigned in Third District Court.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says New Bedford residents Ivan Fontanez, Jr., 20, and Keeland Rose, 23, were both ordered held without bail until a dangerousness hearing on June 12.

Both are charged in connection to the shooting death of Brad Lourenco of New Bedford at Clemente Park at the corner of South First and Blackmer Streets around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. Authorities say Lourenco was shot in the back of the head and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died later Monday evening.

Lourenco had recently been arrested twice within a 24 hour period in connection to an unarmed robbery and a larceny in the city's South End.
