Suspected Overdose Claims Life of New Bedford Man Saturday
NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is dead of a suspected drug overdose.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says the 26-year-old man was found unresponsive in his Jouvette Street apartment on Saturday morning. First responders arrived at around 7:42 a.m. and found the deceased male.
Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, says rolled up dollar bills and a white, powdery substance were found in the man's room. Miliote says it appears the man died of a heroin overdose.
A toxicology is being performed to determine the man's exact cause of death.
Miliote says the man's address is also a sober house.
