Over 100 students were selected to attend the newest charter school to open up in New Bedford. Officials of the City on a Hill Charter School pulled the names of 128 8th-graders Thursday afternoon during an admission lottery at the Whaling Museum.

Melissa Costa's daughter won a spot at the school and now has more options for her future...

The school only has 110 seats, but expects some of the 128 newly admitted students will end up going elsewhere. City on a Hill serves students in grades 9 thru 12 with a strong focus on college preperation.

The school does not yet have a location, but principal Kim Wall is confident it will have a site downtown by the start of school in August.

The New Bedford location will be joining the City on a Hill Network, which has two additional schools in Boston.
