A Swansea man has a patent pending for a new backyard game that is sure to give cornhole a run for its money.

Dan McInerney, or as most know him, DJ Dan Mac, has been fine-tuning his game, which is called "Stepz Game," since July of 2023. Just two years later, the game is set for its official launch on July 21 and August 4th at Canned Heat Craft Beer in Fall River. They will have tournaments where you can try the game for yourself.

It's important to point out that this game had no funding, only a small budget, and McInerney – with a few friends, including his own brother Sean – had to make time to fine-tune this game.

Currently, the patent has been published and is pending; fingers crossed that our local boys get the thumbs up so we can get this in as many backyards as possible by next summer.

What's the Premise of Stepz Game?

It's a multi-level scoring game that involves tossing bags onto steps and racking up points by landing on the steps, and not in the holes of over the stairs, which can get you negative points. Yes, there is negative and positive scoring with this game.

It took a community to bring the game together, calling on a few local businesses to believe in McInerney's vision for the game. Scott James Furniture in Tiverton helped craft the wood with several other local organizations "stepping" up to help the Stepz Bros. bring this game to life.

McInerney wants to spread the word that Stepz isn't just a game, "it's a vibe."

If you want to get your own Stepz game, you can put yourself on their waitlist and be one of the first to own one.

Congrats to McInerney and his crew. We look forward to hours of fun with your game.
