Members of United Steelworkers Local 1357 marched on a New Bedford plant for the second time in as many weeks Thursday afternoon, demanding a fair contract.

The workers from the Allegheny Lludlum plant on East Rodney French Blvd. say the company has not resumed contract negotiations since the union's most recent contract expired June 30th.

Local 1357 President Bob Giusti says he's ready to resume talks as soon as management steps up.

"We don't want nothing. They've got ridiculous recessions. As soon as they come back to the table and start talking again, we'll go back to Pittsburgh," Giusti said.

The company has made 150 recessionary demands, including elimination of guaranteed eight-hour work days, personal breaks, time-and-a-half, and quarterly bonuses.

There are 13 other plant locations nationwide, mostly in western Pennsylvania. Workers in those plants are taking similar action.
