UPDATE: According to Massachusetts State Police, the victim in the crash has died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released and the crash remains under investigation.

One person was sent to the hospital with what State Police describe as "serious" injuries following a one-car crash early Saturday on Route 140 in New Bedford's North End.

A spokesman says troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks responded around 2:45 am to Exit Seven on Route 140, the Braley Road exit.

The operator, a 19-year-old New Bedford man, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by New Bedford EMS to St. Luke's Hospital. His condition was not available.

The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and the Braley Road ramp was closed for more than three hours. The crash remains under investigation.
