Sox Hit 8 Homers and Crush Detroit- WBSM Thursday Sports (AUDIO)

David Ortiz hit two of Boston's 8 home runs as the Sox beat the Tigers 20 to 4 at Fenway Park. Stephen Drew, Mike Napoli, Jacoby Ellsbury, Daniel Nava, Ryan Lavarnway and Will Middlebrooks also went deep. Middlebrooks with a grand slam.

The Red Sox open a four game series with the Yankees tonight in the Bronx. Jake Peavy starts tonight. WBSM pregame time is 6:20pm.

The Pawtucket Red Sox lost game one of the playoffs to Rochester last night 7 to 1. Game two is tonight in Rochester, game three at Pawtucket tomorrow.

The Patriots will go against rookie quarterback EJ Manuel when they open the season Sunday in Buffalo.

Boys soccer: Apponequet beat Fairhaven 3 to 2, NB topped Taunton 4-0, NB Voke Tech over Wareham 6-1 and Brockton topped Dartmouth 2-1.

Girls soccer: Stang beat Bishop Connelly 7-0, Apponequet shutout Fairhaven 3-0, ORR beat Case 7-0, NB over Taunton 3-2 and Dartmouth shut out Brockton 2-0.

Field Hockey: Fairhaven beat Wareham 3-0.

The UMass Dartmouth men's soccer team beat Salem State 3-2, the women shut out Salve Regina 4-0. In field hockey, Trinity beat UMD 1-0 and in volleyball, Salve beat UMD 3-0.
