We have spotted elves hard at work on the SouthCoast, and this time the Padanaram elves in Dartmouth have outdone themselves.

You may have seen the funny and festive videos from StoneGate Mortgage. Kenny the Elf appears to always be getting himself into sticky situations around the holidays, and in one video, they accuse Kenny of making up a story about not being able to get to work on time because of a bike with square wheels. Here is the video for reference:

As you can see, Kenny insists that he wasn't making that up, but who has ever actually seen a bike with square wheels? Until now.

Southeastern Regional High School Welding teacher Chad Wunschel and his colleague John Darche were challenged by the elves of Padanaram to actually build a bike that had square wheels.

Wunschel was not only up for the task, but also used it as a perfect teaching opportunity for his metal fabrication shop students at the Easton school. This was a task he presented to both his sophomores and seniors who have shop class every other week.

We asked Wunschel what some of the challenges were that presented themselves as good learning examples for his students

"There were two challenges, really: one, figuring out the best way to emulate the look of a tire using pipe insulation on a square wheel, and the other being the sizing of the wheel to best fit the frame of the regular round tire bike," Wunschel said.

This one-of-a-kind bike took the students about five weeks to complete.

Of course, the bike is not rideable, but with some holiday magic, anything is possible, right? Be on the lookout for this bike to be featured on social media soon, and most likely on display in the village.
