The new year is upon us, and with the arrival of 2023, many are making – and in some cases, already breaking – New Year's resolutions.

The start of a fresh new calendar is also the chance to forget about the burdens of the past and embrace the wide-open uncertainty of the future. There's a lot to look forward to on the SouthCoast in 2023, after all.

The offshore wind industry will kick into high gear this year. Some favorite coffee shops will open new locations. New restaurants will open. Heck, we should even (finally) have South Coast Rail service here by the end of the year.

With that chance to start over, many people take to making resolutions about how they will better their lives in the new year. We thought we should take that same concept and apply it to some of the cities and towns here on the SouthCoast.

None of these are meant to bash anyone, or make anyone angry. The new year is a time to take a good, hard look at yourself in the mirror and decide it's finally time to make the changes you know you need to make, yet keep putting off for one reason or another.

The same can be said for the cities of New Bedford and Fall River, and towns like Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Westport and Wareham, to name a few.

So we came up with a list of New Year's resolutions that we think each of the following communities should band together and put into effect.

Happy New Year!

Hilarious New Bedford Slideshow Has Travel Site Catfishing Tourists

A travel website called UniverseTravel.org has created an online 'story' enticing potential tourists to visit beautiful New Bedford, Massachusetts. The only problem? It features photos that hilariously have nothing to do with the Whaling City. This is what happens when you let AI do your job for you.
