There continues to be a shortage of canned pet food in parts of the country due in part to the supply chain crisis and worker shortages that continue to plague manufacturing plants and trucking companies. Some products are getting out while others are not. One issue that is affecting the SouthCoast region is a shortage of canned cat food. Certain brands, particularly Fancy Feast, have been difficult to come by.

The supermarkets here on the SouthCoast appear to be struggling to find adequate supplies of Fancy Feast canned cat food to meet the demand. Other brands are getting out but because of the Fancy Feast shortage, the others don't last long on the store shelves.

Holistic veterinarian at IandLoveandYou.com, Dr. Angie Krause, DVM, CVA, CCRT, suggests cooking for your cat.

"You can use items in your kitchen such as chicken, beef, potato, fruits, and vegetables to make a healthy meal," she said. "Avoid using grains such as wheat pasta, quinoa, rice, and millet."

Dr. Karause suggests using BalanceIT.com to create healthy recipes that your cat will enjoy.

Give it a shot and let us know how you make out. Who knows, you may never go back to store-bought canned cat food again.
