If this winter is making you unhappy, you're not alone.

Doctor Lisa Llanas, a psychiatrist with Southcoast Health, says that Seasonal Affective Disorder impacts up to 20 percent of Americans every year.

While saying this winter has made nearly everyone unhappy, Doctor Llanas tells WBSM's Phil Paleologos, that there are times when this can become a serious issue requiring professional help and treatment.

Doctor Llanas says lightbox therapy, a treatment that involves a fluorescent light with a screen blocking UV rays, can have a positive impact.

Llanas also advises people who feel winter blues to get outside even in the cold and snow as the sunlight can help improve overall mood.
