South End Store Reportedly Robbed at Gunpoint

NEW BEDFORD - Police are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred at a Family Dollar in the city's south end Saturday night. 

The incident took place at approximately 9:00 PM at 160 W. Rodney French Blvd., according to Lt. Amos Melo, NBPD public information officer.

A 23-year-old female victim told police a male approached the counter asking for money holding what appeared to be a black firearm.

The male fled with an undetermined amount of cash. No injuries resulted from the incident.

The male suspect is described as a tall thin light skinned male about 6' tall wearing black pants, black coat and a gray hoodie.
