The transformation of 136 Huttleston Avenue in Fairhaven has slowly taken shape since earlier this year, and now the time has come for SOCO Tavern to officially open its doors.

On Tuesday, June 24, SOCO will officially be ready to welcome its first round of guests and show off the incredible transformation from what the building once was.

In early February, Fun 107 shared the news that Ice House was shutting down. Just a few weeks later, it was confirmed that the location was scooped up by SouthCoast natives Mario Ribeiro and Jake Galary.

“It’s been a lot of work, with a lot of time and effort put in, but people will be in awe when they walk in,” Ribeiro said.

What to Expect at SOCO Tavern in Fairhaven

SOCO Tavern pulls out all the stops when it comes to tasteful aesthetic and excellent menu options.

A giant mural painted by local artists Jeff Saint and Brian Tillett greets people as they walk in, showcasing the beauty of Fairhaven. What used to be one of three bars is now an open kitchen with a giant pizza oven as the focal point. Don't worry, there are still two bars, one outside and one inside.

“You are going to walk in to a fun atmosphere,” Ribeiro said. “It’s going to be a lively place.”

SOCO plans to host live music, but in the meantime, guests can pick their favorite tune from the jukebox, and with a pizza oven at the center of it all, expect high-quality pizza pies flying out of the kitchen.

“We have a New Haven-style dough, and our close friends and family have been raving about it,” Ribeiro said.

As far as what menu item SOCO will be known for, Ribeiro had a hard time choosing, but he was adamant about one thing.

“We want to make SOCO a staple in Fairhaven,” he said. “We want it to be a place where everyone feels comfortable. You don’t have to dress up, you don’t even need a reservation because it’s so big. The vibe is absolutely electric.”

Opening night is Tuesday, June 24. It’s time to start planning family night out at Fairhaven’s newest eatery.
