
“Soccer Mom” Minivan Used In New Bedford Heroin Deliveries, Driver Arrested
A Providence man is under arrest in New Bedford after police say he was making heroin deliveries in a minivan.
According to Detective Captain Steve Vicente, police developed information that a 2001 Honda Odyssey was being used to make heroin drops in the South End of New Bedford.
Police obtained a warrant and spotted the minivan early Tuesday afternoon at Dartmouth and Edward streets, and stopped the vehicle. Inside, police found about 127 grams of heroin with a street value of nearly $13,000.
Police arrested the driver, 41-year-old Edison Elixandro Perez Lara of Providence. He's charged with trafficking heroin in excess of 100 grams, a felony that could carry a prison sentence of up to eight years.
