Snow cleanup in New Bedford and surrounding communities will continue into Friday night and early Saturday.

The cleanup in New Bedford was hampered Friday by the amount of cars on the road, according to D-P-I Commissioner Ron Labelle.  Another problem, he says was downed trees and tree limbs.

"Yeah, we've had some tree limbs down, some trees are down, and there's some spotty outages of electricity. There's also a lot of cable lines that are down. The utility companies are working with us to get those hazards out of ur way," said Labelle.

City officials say eight inches of snow fell in New Bedford. Speaking on the "Taylor Cormier Program" on Friday, Mayor Jon Mitchell cautioned residents to take it easy when shoveling this weekend.  He said the parking ban would remain in place for the time being.
