The Whaling City Festival opens at Buttonwood Park this afternoon at 4 p.m.

If you're planning on heading down to Buttonwood this week for the Whaling City Festival, we have your preview so you can plan your visit accordingly. Like what food trucks you should hit AFTER you ride the Zero Gravity to avoid projectile vomiting on your friends.

Keep in mind that our video tour happened around noon on Thursday, so there is a very high chance that more food and craft vendors will be filling in before the gates open to the public.

Wristbands are available for $30 each for THURSDAY NIGHT ONLY. Gates open at 4 p.m., and the festival closes at 9 p.m. tonight.

There will be six circus performances by The Zerbini Family Circus. If you order tickets,  you can pick them up at the entrance to the circus tent the day of the show. Adults are $9 and children under 12 are $7. Children under 2 are free.

Also, please keep in mind that the Festival is put on completely by the New Bedford Police Union. So if you see an officer this weekend, please take a second to thank them - lots of work has gone into bringing this back for everyone to enjoy!
