ACUSHNET — Drivers on I-195 or Route 240 in Fairhaven early Monday afternoon may have seen thick black smoke as a brush fire raged in Acushnet.

By 1 p.m. fire crews had already put out most of the flames from the fire, which started just after noon on Monday at 5 Tillie Way.

Scanner reports noted that flames reached a conex box or storage container nearby.

The extent of property damage is unknown.
