NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford narcotics unit arrested six people Thursday and took nearly 14 grams of crack cocaine off the streets following an investigation into a cocaine distribution service being operated out of 45 Tallman St. Apt. 2 rear.

Police executed a search warrant at the address Thursday. A search of the residence found 13.8 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales, packaging materials and $653 in cash.

Police made the following arrests:

  • Kevin Nichols, 21, 45 Tallman St. Apt. 2 rear, New Bedford, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
  • Joeshua Matos DeJesus, 21, 191 Elm St., New Bedford, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
  • Oscar Calo-Ortiz,43, 194 North Front St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, warrant arrest.
  • Jose Lacen, 18, 1208 Acushnet Ave. Apt. 2, New Bedford, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
  • Alfonso Ramirez, 26, 155 Shaw St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, three warrant arrests.

A juvenile male, 17, was also arrested at the scene on a warrant.
