Around the SouthCoast, September is still warm and summerish, and a perfect time of year to celebrate the end of the sunny season, with everything from live outdoor concerts to food truck feasts.

Check out a sampling of events I've selected, starting Friday, September 2, with a free outdoor concert featuring the Hipshot Band on Purchase Street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of the Summer Sound Series.

Also on Friday, September 2, it's the Food Truck Farm Fest in Westport at 98 Horseneck Road. Enjoy a cold beer or a glass of local wine, while enjoying the scenery and free, live symphonic music, from classical works to tango, with some traditional fiddle tunes by New Bedford Symphony Orchestra musicians EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Peter Zay from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On September 4, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m, the Narrows hosts a free outdoor concert featuring blues superstar Shemekia Copeland at the Gates of the City in Fall River. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. There'll be plenty of food trucks serving your favorite foods.

Get ready for New Bedford's Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival on September 10 at beautiful Fort Taber overlooking Buzzard's Bay. Starting at noon, enjoy food, cold craft beer, live entertainment and outdoor games.

One of the nation's most celebrated White House photographers, Pete Souza, will be among the celebrities gracing the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, with a full lineup of favorites, like Billy Ocean, Tony Danza and Matt Frazier. Tickets go on sale September 7. By the way, the Zeiterion building is turning 100 years old in 2023. Stay tuned for exciting details.

After all those pints and tacos, take a pleasant walk at Fort Taber, supporting the Meeting Street Schwartz Center's Superhero 5K Fun Run Walk & Roll on September 18 at 8:30 a.m.

You'll want to circle September 23-24 for Sailing to Freedom, historical true stories of the Maritime Underground Railroad. It will be presented at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, with noted historians, sponsored by the New Bedford Historical Society.

And if all else fails, bicycling, beaches and hiking are always fun around the SouthCoast.
Have a great Labor Day holiday!
