One of our most popular support efforts around here is sending care packages to our deployed troops.  We send a touch of home to those who are deployed and serving in harm’s way on our behalf. As we go about our daily lives, our troops stand watch, protecting us and defending our liberties.  Each member of our Armed Forces is a parent, a sibling, a child, a spouse, a friend, and a fellow American. A local effort wants to keep our troops encouraged and ensure they realize we are grateful for their service.

South Coast Youth Courts and the New Bedford Police Department's SRO Unit are working together to send some love and care to our soldiers overseas at Christmas. Officer Willie Coates and Terri Belleveau of PAACA are asking you to donate special items and either brought to the SRO Officer at the public schools or to PAACA, 360 Coggeshall St., New Bedford, no later than December 1st.

Please contribute these needed items:

Flip Flops and Shower Shoes for both men and women

Skull Caps

Soap

Body Loofahs or Bath Scrubs

Chocolate, Gum and Candy

Completed Christmas Cards with positive messages of care, love, thanks and hope from both children and adults.

If you can help, please drop off these items at your local public school SRO Police Officer, or call Terri Belliveau at 508-997-9051.
