BOSTON — Senator Mark Montigny (D-New Bedford) is pleased to announce that $825 million in state bonding authority has been included in the most recent transportation bond bill filed today by Governor Charlie Baker. During his legislative career, Montigny has championed significant bonding authorizations necessary to complete the project.

Earlier this month, officials held an official groundbreaking ceremony to signal construction starting on the $1.1 billion project. A total of $114.8 million has already been allocated to the project for this fiscal year.

“New Bedford has had to wait far too long to gain access to Boston via rail,” said Senator Montigny, longtime legislative leader on South Coast Rail funding and bond authorizations. “This latest round of bond authorizations will ensure the project is fully funded and I am thankful that Governor Baker has remained a committed partner in this long-overdue project.”
