Selfies Are Spreading Head Lice
teens take selfie
When you take a "selfie" with a friend you are not only spreading love, but also possible head lice.
A California lice expert says she's seen a big increase in head lice among teens within the past year. Marcy McQuillian, who works at a head lice removal company says, "Typically it's younger children I treat, because they're at higher risk for head-to-head contact. But now teens are sticking their heads together every day to take cell phone pics."
She says each time she treats a teen she asks about selfies, and they admit that they take them every day. She thinks parents and teens need to be aware of the potential risks.
