The fate of the Rogers and Oxford schools in Fairhaven is still unknown.

The Rogers-Oxford Study Committee and a development consultant gave their recommendations for the properties during Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting. The board was expected to produce an answer afterwards, but tabled the decision until next month's meeting.

The Study Committee's Chairman Nils Isaksen wants the town to submit a request for proposal (RFP) so they have some control over who gets the property...

Consultant Jim Muse also suggested an RFP would be the best option for the town. The other two options he provided to the town were an outright sale of the properties or putting them up for auction.

The two properties are vacant and no town department has any use for the buildings.

Over 200 residents have signed a petition requesting an RFP, and many more have written letters to the selectmen. The board will make their decision August 4th.
