The New Bedford School Department's first online community survey attracted 900 responses from parents, staff members, students and other interested parties. Results of the survey were presented to the School Committee last night.

Seventy-one percent of the respondents said they supported the district's turnaround strategy, but a large number, 57%, rated the school district either fair or poor.

Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin says the survey shows how much work still needs to be done....

The survey also revealed the need to improve community input. Sixty-six percent of those surveyed said they wanted more opportunities for community input before decisions are made.

The entire survey can be reviewed on the school dept. website, newbedfordschools.org
