Fire caused extensive damage to a three-story tenament at 18 Holly Street on Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to the scene around 6:40 am, and spotted flames on one side of the exterior of the building, and extending up to the attic.

According to a Facebook post by the New Bedford Fire Department, the crew from Engine 8 deployed multiple hose lines to attack both the exterior fire, and the fire inside the building, stopping the flames from extending to surrounding tenaments.

No civilians were injured, but one firefighter was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for evaluation, and later released.

The Fire Department says four adults and two children were displaced by the fire, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The fire remains under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit.
