Longtime State Senators Michael Rodrigues (D-Westport) and Marc Pacheco (D-Taunton) will each serve another term on Beacon Hill.

Rodrigues, who chairs the hugely influential Ways and Means Committee, is returning to represent the 1st Bristol and Plymouth District, which he has since 2011. Prior to that, he represented the 8th Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for 15 years.

Rodrigues defeated Republican challenger Russell Protentis 57 percent to 43 percent (28,589 to 21,379).

Pacheco has been in office since 1993, representing the 3rd Bristol and Plymouth District, and serves on numerous committees, including as Senate Chair of the State Administration and Regulatory Oversight Joint Committee.

He defeated Republican challenger Maria Collins 54 percent to 46 percent (34,946 to 29,650).
