Rochester Playground Brings New Life to Gifford Park

With baseball season in full swing, parents, players and spectators gather every weekend to cheer on their teams in towns throughout Massachusetts.

In Rochester, it's no different. Gifford Park has been home to generations of ball players. In addition to its fields, the park also boasts a playground, a spot where many a baseball player and/or sibling of one spend time playing before, during or after games.

If you're familiar with the park but haven't been in a while, you may be picturing what used to be: an old structure that slowly became an eyesore and was unsafe for the kids.

New Playground Opens in Rochester

Now, new life has been brought to Gifford Park in the form of a brand-new, bright, colorful and super fun playground.

According to the Tri-Town for Protecting Children website, the hope for the playground is to create "a space where families can connect, children can thrive, and our community can come together."

Tri-Town Gathers for Ribbon Cutting

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025 community members gathered for a ribbon cutting on the new play space.

The event included games, activities, pizza, cookies, ice cream and refreshments.

TTFPC posted its gratitude on its Facebook page.

You can enjoy the new playground, complete with multiple slide, climbing structures, swings and more at Mary's Pond Road in Rochester.
