A new book that has been released, which documents the always confrontational Deflategate saga, claims that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady turned down a chance to get out of his suspension.

According to a 98.5 The Sports Hub report, a new book, "12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady's Fight For Redemption," written by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, claims that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell gave Brady an odd opportunity to avoid his suspension and instead pay a hefty fine.

Based on the report, the book claims that Goodell offered to drop the suspension and fine Brady $1 million instead, as long as Brady publicly blamed former Patriot equpiment guys Jim McNally and John Jastremski for tampering with the balls.

Goodell also told Brady that he could say evn go as far as to say that the two acted without his knowledge.

The now 41-year-old refused the commissioner's offer, however, sticking to his belief that neither he, nor McNally or Jastremski, did anything wrong.

NBC Sports Boston Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran added to the report, tweeting that McNally even told Brady, back in 2015, that he could use him as a fall guy to avoid a shellacking from the league. Brady would not do it.

Brady ultimately ended up serving the four-game suspension and the rest is history.

The new claims seem to further the theory that the league just wanted to blame somebody for what science has proven was a natural deflation of footballs.

If you want to read the book and relive the Deflategate saga, it can be purchased on Amazon.
