FAIRHAVEN — A nursing home worker in Fairhaven is charged with filming nude, elderly patients and then posting the videos to social media.

WJAR-TV reports that Deeshawn Venegas, 27, of New Bedford, was employed at the Royal of Fairhaven in October 2018 when she allegedly posted two videos of nude patients to Snapchat.

Court documents obtained by WJAR-TV reveal that Fairhaven police accused Venegas of posting a video of a 69-year-old patient who was walking down the hall, nude from the waist down.

Police also claimed Venegas posted a video of a patient who had soiled herself.

Police add that Venegas had also added captions to both videos.

Management at the Royal of Fairhaven was alerted to Venegas' alleged actions the next day by her cousin, according to court documents. The administrator of the nursing home notified police of the videos.

The administrator told investigators that Venegas and another employee at the nursing home would be fired following an internal investigation.

Venegas was in court Wednesday to face charges related to the posting of the inappropriate videos and was freed on $500 bail. A judge ordered Venegas not to have contact with elderly people in a nursing home setting.

A lawyer for Venegas said she had been employed at a nursing home in Marion.
