NEW BEDFORD — Officers with the New Bedford Police Department's Narcotics Unit have arrested a Rochester man after witnessing a drug deal in his car.

The officers were targeting street-level drug sales in the North End when they saw what appeared to be a drug transaction in a car in the area of 306 Cottage Street just after 7 p.m. Thursday night.

When police stopped the car, they found cocaine.

Police arrested the driver, Mark McCra, 29, of Rochester, on charges of possession of cocaine and operating with a suspended license.

Police say the incident is under investigation and other people involved may be summonsed to court.

McCra has seven open cases with 18 adult arraignments. Police say he has failed to show up to court nine times.
