Repeat Offender Added to Bristol District Attorney’s Most Wanted List

New Bedford — Jose Freitas, 37, of Pawtucket has made his way onto the Bristol County District Attorney's most wanted fugitive list. The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Freitas was arrested April 5th for at least the fourth time for allegedly driving drunk on 195.

Police say Freitas was impeding the flow of traffic by driving slowly. Freitas allegedly failed to recite the alphabet, was unsteady on his feet and slurred his speech while he smelled of alcohol. After a search of his vehicle, Police say they found an open bottle of vodka in his center console and nips of whiskey on his person. While being booked at the state police barracks in Dartmouth, Police say Freitas fell asleep. Freitas was released, but never showed up for his arraignment the following morning and has not been seen since.
