The deadline is fast approaching for those who need to register to vote in the October 6 Preliminary Election in New Bedford.

The City's Board of Election Commissioners sent out a reminder that Wednesday is the last day to register to vote or to submit any name or address changes to the Board of Elections.

Hours will be extended in the Election Office, located in City Hall at 133 William Street, Room 114, on Wednesday until 8 p.m. to allow voters to register or make any changes to their name or address.

Absentee ballots for the Preliminary Election will be available by September 21.

Voters can submit their ballots at the Election Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Absentee ballot applications can also be mailed to a voters home address.

The New Bedford Election Office will also be open on October 3 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to give voters additional time to cast an absentee ballot.

Voters in the Preliminary Election will cast ballots for Councillor-At-Large, and for Councillor of Ward Four.
