A teach-in will be taking place Thursday evening in New Bedford.

Organizers say The Race and Criminal Justice System Teach-In will feature panelists presenting various elements of the criminal justice system through the perspective of race.

Panelists will also look at solutions that seek to achieve racial fairness and benefit the society as a whole.

The school-to-prison pipeline and restorative justice are among the topics that will be discussed.

The Race and Criminal Justice System Teach-In is sponsored by Bristol Community College's multicultural committee, the Coalition for Social Justice, and Black Lives Matter New Bedford.

The event takes place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church, at 71 Eighth Street in New Bedford.

Light refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to the public.
