It appears that all of the rabid foxes in Fairhaven have been killed. Town officials say they believe they have killed the remaining rabid foxes living in the woods adjacent to Birchfield Street. Peter Deterra, chairman of Fairhaven's Health Board says that two foxes were killed Sunday night and there shouldn't be anymore. Birchfield Street has been a hotbed for rabid fox sightings since one bit a woman who was walking her dog on Aug. 7th. That fox was later killed by a neighbor wielding a shovel and it tested positive for rabies. Saturday, two additional foxes were reported to Fairhaven Animal Control and were killed Sunday night by Fairhaven Police with pellet guns.
