Protesters Gather Outside New Bedford Library
NEW BEDFORD — Many people on both sides gathered outside the New Bedford Public Library on Saturday to express their feelings regarding the drag queen storytime event.
Among the people were protesters who held signs and shouted chants expressing their frustration with the event. One sign held by protesters read, " Dear God: Let not the little children be perverted by Drag Queen Story Hours!" Another one read, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph- We Pray You Keep the Family Holy!"
Among the protesters was Jonathan Hill who stated the LGBT community needs to be more educated. "We know its bad for the human body to be using the human body that way. If we care about the folks, and the LGBT movement, we should warn them about this, and help them to understand this, which will lead to a better life. Something that is going to lead them to happiness."
The protesters remained peaceful and there were no arrests made.
