A University of Kansas professor has found a rare audio recording of basketball inventor James Naismith talking about organizing the first game of basketball that started in 1891 in Massachusetts.

The recording, which can be found here, is believed to be the only known recording of basketball’s founder.

According to WHDH 7, the recording excerpt is less than three minutes long and is from a January 31, 1939, broadcast of the radio program "We the People," hosted in New York City.
