‘Presents With Police’ Is Helping Disadvantaged Kids This Saturday
New Bedford Police are stepping up and stepping out to help kids have a magical Christmas.
Officers at the department will be taking time this Saturday to go Christmas shopping with around 100 disadvantaged children. This time of year isn't always magical for everyone, and New Bedford Police recognize that and are doing what they can to change it.
This Saturday starting at about 8:15 a.m. and leading into the afternoon, the officers will participate in "Presents with Police." It'll be happening at the Target in North Dartmouth. Officers will shop with kids and help wrap presents. There will also be a pizza lunch, which isn't a bad deal, either.
This is absolutely the type of relationship I love to see with police and their communities. It's especially nice to see this around the holidays which, as I said, can be a very difficult time for some less fortunate families.
I'm looking forward to seeing a great turnout for a heartwarming situation.
