Fairhaven Police are warning of a potential scam that seems to be targeting businesses in the town.

Fairhaven Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza says several businesses have reported receiving a phone call from a man who claims their electricity will be shut off within an hour due to unpaid bills with NStar Electric. The caller then instructs the business to contact him at a provided phone number to make arrangements for payment.

Sgt. Kobza says anyone who receives a similar call is advised not to call the provided number, but instead contact their utility company directly to inquire about their account status.
