NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford woman faces multiple charges after accosting two arresting officers, according to police.

New Bedford Police say officers on patrol in the area of 1277 Acushnet Avenue at around 3:20 a.m. on Friday saw a woman they recognized for having several outstanding warrants.

As police attempted to arrest the woman, she ran away and caused a disturbance, police said. She then struck two officers before she was arrested.

Police have charged the woman, Cheila Meriel Guzman, 24, of 15 Bullard Street, Apartment 2, New Bedford, with resisting arrest, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, and on a warrant.
