The Fall River Police Department arrested a suspected fentanyl dealer on Tuesday and seized cash and drugs after executing a search warrant.

On Tuesday at around 4:00 p.m., Detective Gary Barboza and the the Fall River Vice and Intelligence Unit were conducting surveillance of 231 Osborn St. They were armed with a warrant for the first floor rear apartment, and the target of the investigation was 30-year-old Laurie Lucas.

Investigators knocked and Lucas answered. Detectives announced themselves, entered, and arrested the suspect. A search of the apartment and a storage area yielded 430 blue glassine bags of fentanyl, 2 Suboxone films, and $17,631 in cash. The cash was seized by investigators as suspected drug proceeds and will be turned into evidence for future forfeiture proceedings, wrote police department spokesman Lt. Jay D. Huard in a release.

Lucas is charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B drug, and with six outstanding warrants, the city police department said.
