Police: New Bedford Couple Breaks Into Home, Drinks Vodka Outside
NEW BEDFORD - Two New Bedford residents are arrested after police find them drunk on Union Street.
New Bedford Police were called to the area of 357 Union street at around 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, where they found Wendy Jackson, 35, and Jermain Ross, 32, highly intoxicated with an open bottle of vodka. Jackson gave a fake name to police and encouraged Ross to ignore police questioning.
Soon after the pair was arrested, police received a report from a resident in the 300-block of Union Street who had come home earlier that day to find a strange man and woman on her couch. She screamed for them to leave and the pair left without incident. Police found no sign of forced entry. The woman was identified as Wendy Jackson. She had left her identification behind.
Jackson and Ross both face charges of possession of an open container of alcohol in a public way and misdemeanor breaking and entering. Jackson faces additional charges of witness intimidation and furnishing a false name to police.
