New Bedford Pit Bull Owner Found Dangerous

A New Bedford District Court judge has ruled that a city man is a danger to the community after allegedly ordering his pit bull to attack a 13-year-old girl.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jerry Chery was arrested on April 9, after the victim filed a police report. Police say Chery ordered his pit bull to attack the teen on April 5, after the girl had been fighting with Chery's step-daughter on Linden Street.

The girl suffered bite wounds to her back, right elbow, left knee, and right arm.

Chery will now be held at the Bristol County House of Correction for four months without bail while awaiting trial.
