Three people were injured Monday afternoon after being attacked by four pit bulls in Fall River.
Detective J.D. Costa says a 70-year-old woman was walking on Howe Street around 4:00 p.m. when two of the dogs latched onto her purse.
She let go of her purse and the dogs then bit her forearm, causing her to fall.
She was taken to Saint Anne's hospital. A 54-year-old male and a 39-year-old female were also attacked.
The man tried to fight them off with a stick but fell and was bitten several times . He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
The woman was treated at the scene and released.
Costa says the owner of the pit bulls, a 43-year-old female resident, was issued a summons to appear in court on charges and two counts of Failing to Vaccinate a Dog and two counts of Failing to License a Dog.
The dogs got out of the home by running through an unsecured door.
Animal control officers were able to capture the pit bulls with assistance from the owner and the dogs will be quarantined for ten days.
