The Partners Village Store and Kitchen, 865 Main Rd. in Westport, will welcome local author, Red Cummings, on Friday, June 30, at 6 p.m.

According to South Coast Today.com, Cummings will be welcomed as part of the Writers Series, and he will share from his latest book, "Murder, Manslaughter and Mayhem on the SouthCoast: Volume One 1800-1969," written with Stefani Koorey.

In the book, the murderers referenced used guns, axes, knives, fists, fire, ropes, and other tools — such as their hands — to commit their cruel acts.

The murderers in the book included, mothers who killed their children, spouses who killed each other, and children who murdered their parents.

"Cummings is the recipient of various awards for advertising excellence. His first book, 'The Last Fling: Hurrican Carol 1954, Stories from Westport, Massachusetts,' was recognized with awards from two national book festivals. 'Cream of the Crop: Fall River’s Best and Brightest' features a collection of 260 mini-biographies of those educated in the Spindle City who became highly successful. Also, Cummings’ recent book, 'Lobstah Tales,' was a local favorite and bestseller in 2016-2017."
