Two Rhode Island men were arrested in New Bedford Friday as part of an investigation into a fentanyl distribution service, according to a release. 

Francisco Ruiz-Franco, 21, of Providence, RI, and Gabri Javier Delapaz, 25, of Central Falls, RI, were traveling in a vehicle stopped near 700 Kempton St. by New Bedford Police at 12:01 p.m..

Both men were charged with trafficking of fentanyl over 36 grams and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 39 plastic bags of fentanyl on Delapaz and two bags filled with fentanyl on Ruiz-Franco. Police also found plastic bags, a digital scale and $349 in cash.
