Padanaram Village in Dartmouth is hosting its annual Christmas Festival on Friday, December 6, from 5 to 8 pm. Santa Claus and his cheery elves will arrive at 6 pm.

Cape Yachts / South Wharf will host Santa's Workshop, where kids can assemble a holiday toy and write a letter to Santa in time for Christmas. Refreshments will be available. Stop by Anne Whiting Real Estate at 6 pm for a performance from the Grinch who will be handing out candy canes and cookies. Take a picture with Vintage Santa on the porch at Dahlia Living and Padanaram Outfitters. The Law Offices of Rusitzky & Russell will have hot chocolate, cookie decorating, and ornaments to benefit the Jimmy Fund.

The Dartmouth Cultural Center will host live music from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra's Chamber Ensemble, hot chocolate, mulled cider, and sweet treats. There will be refreshments up and down Elm Street and around the corner of Bridge Street, including complimentary stuffed quahogs from Sail Loft, complimentary egg nog and cookies from Little Moss, macaroni and cheese at the Milbury Lot and complimentary hot cocoa courtesy of Farm & Coast, and clam cakes, meatball sliders, hot dogs, french fries, and refreshments from Valley Top Tavern.

Don't miss your chance to walk around the village as it transforms into Christmas Town for a few hours. Each shop offers something for the occasion.

All this, and so much more for your family to get in the Christmas spirit. Free parking will be available at New Bedford Yacht Club and St. Mary's Church, with a shuttle service from St. Mary's Church as well.

I've always loved attending this event with my family because my mom and I love watching those cliché Hallmark Christmas movies together and this feels like we just stepped into one. Our little village comes to life with bright lights and the streets are filled with Christmas music. All generations take part in the fun and it's nice to get outside for an hour or two when otherwise we'd be bundled up on the couch watching Netflix. You can even bring your well-behaved pup on a leash. Although, my sister's dog, Midas got too lazy and didn't want to walk anymore. He hopped into my nephew's stroller and we pushed him around.
