Prior to last night's Yankees-Red Sox spring training match up in Fort Meyers, Florida, something that hasn't happened in two years took place.  Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz spoke to each other.

According to ESPN's Scott Lauber, the two aging sluggers broke a silence, which had lasted since Rodriguez' lawayer, Joseph Tacopina, had seemingly called out Ortiz during an ESPN radio appearance regarding steroids back in 2014, at an indoor batting cage at the Red Sox' facility.

While Tacopina tried to back track from his original comments regarding a player "God-like in Boston" with ties to PEDs, Ortiz became furious and cut Rodriguez out.

Though 2003 drug testing results, which spurred change for MLB's drug testing policy, were supposed to remain anonymous, a 2009 report exposed the names of  multiple players who had failed their 2003 tests including Ortiz.

Since then Ortiz has vehemently denied PED use and has gone on the attack against anyone who questions his gaudy career numbers.

Yesterday, however, it appeared as though Papi had finally decided to bury the hatchet with his former friend and close pal.

Rodriguez took time, after the game, to make his feelings about his retiring rival known:

"I love Big Papi," Rodriguez said. "I have a lot of respect for him. I think he's been an incredible ambassador for the game. I'm looking forward to him leaving the game at a height -- and for him to leave the game. He's crushed us over the years."
