Tuesday, November 7th is the day you gave up your vote if you decided not to participate. To be honest, most people around here don't vote on Election Day but then call-in regularly to moan and complain about issues! Simply put, if you didn't vote Tuesday, you lose the right to complain. The election was determined by who goes and votes.

The New Bedford mayoral race, city councilors, assessor, school committee and a binding referendum question: "Shall the term of office for mayor of New Bedford be four years?" were decided. The question passed, so the four-year term would begin for the mayoral candidate elected in 2019.

The candidates know the arithmetic. You either vote by voting - or vote by not voting, and if you didn't vote - someone else's vote counted more than yours. Do the math.
